Ourang Medan: The Mystery Ghost Ship
The Ourang Medan was, and still is one of the world’s greatest maritime mysteries which is still unsolved to this day. The mystery started in February 1948 when a series on distress calls were picked up all of which were coming from the SS Ourang Medan.
The distress calls said, “all officers including the captain are dead, laying in the chart room and bridge, possible whole crew dead” This was then followed by Morse code that couldn’t be deciphered, and then finally followed by the last message which said, “I die” A short time after the messages had been received a rescue mission was mounted to locate the SS Ourang Medan! The vessel was indeed found a little while later and after many attempts to signal the craft and receiving no response a boarding party was assembled to board the ship.
When the boarding party climbed onto the ship they were welcomed by a frightening sight all the crew were dead! They had their eyes open looking up to the sky, their arms out stretched and a look of terror on their faces. The rescue crew reported an eerie feeling on the ship and a chill in the air even though it was an unusually hot day!
It was decided to tow the ship back to port but before they could get on the way a fire broke out on board and the rescue crew were forced to abandon ship! The Ourang Medan finally exploded and sank to the bottom of the sea. Even to this day no one knows what happened on board the Ourang Medan and the incident has gone down as one of the world greatest unsolved mysteries!
There’re some theories to what happened, which range from: Chemicals that exploded in the cargo hold, too pirates killing everyone and sabotaging the ship, to a paranormal explanation!

Chapel of Bones – Portugal

Capela dos Ossos, also known as the chapel of Bones, is located next to the church of St. Francis in the medieval Portuguese town of Evora.
The 16th century chapel is a large room which the walls are filled with the bones of over 5,000 monks. Evora, in the 16th century, had around 43 cemeteries, that took up to much land. The decision was made to destroy some of the cemeteries so the corpses of 5,000 monks was exhumed in a effort to save their souls from condemnation. These bones was sent to Capela dos Ossos. The exisiting monks soon realised that it would be better if they displayed the bones rather than hide them. So they set about creating a place for meditation, a place where the undeniable reminder of death would help people transcend the material world.
When you enter the chapel you will see the words
“Nos ossos que aqui estamos, pelos vossos esperamos.”
“We, the bones that are here await yours.”
Wrote on the door, a reminder that death happens to everyone giving people the perspective before they enter the chapel to prey.
The corpse of a women and a child hang from a wall, no body knows who they are but legend has it that a powerful man had onced cursed them. They was refused burial in the local cemeteries so the corpses received shelter from the chapel.

Would you like to join us as a part of our team at Ghosts of London?
There are two voluntary positions available within our team should you be interested. We have a position for a medium from any genre. We have recently lost a medium whose specialist field was within the demonic side of things. We also have a position for an investigator / video reel maker. We need a person who can stitch together our videos and add music etc for a more professional feel to our work.
We are a very tight team and we all look out for each other. Uniform is supplied and use of all our equipment that we use in the field.
Living in London / Hertfordshire is an advantage. A means of transportation would be a huge plus due to equipment and team members travelling to investigations. We travel all over the U.K. so having a vehicle is a major plus.
Having access to equipment is also a major plus but not essential. However you will need your own computer/laptop with video editing capabilities.
This is something that is a major requirement for us. We do at times have copious amounts of footage that needs to be worked on so this needs to be considered before applying.
We do visit some of the most famously haunted venues in the U.K. You could become a part of this if it’s right for you. Experience is not necessary as you will be taught how to cope in the field but honesty in this is paramount!
