The Skirrid Inn: The Most Haunted Pub in Wales

The Skirrid Inn is the oldest pub in wales and is a hot spot for paranormal activity!… Dating back to the 17th century and has a long and dark history. It is said that the first floor of the inn was used as a court of law. It is also said that some of the people that stood trail were sentenced to death within its walls.

Apparently around 180 people were executed in the pub the people that were sentenced to death were hung by the neck from a rope that was said to have been attached to an oak beam at the top of the staircase. There are even indentations to this day from where the rope left its mark. It’s the pubs history that makes people believe the pub is haunted along with the many sighting or paranormal encounters. It is said that Judge Jeffries who sentenced so many people to death haunts the upstairs of the pub and he is apparently searching for his next victim!

Another common spectre is to haunt the pub is a sheep rustler called John Crowther and the many criminals that lost their lives there are said to still haunt the location. It’s worth noting that it is said that the pub has some friendly ghost too… A clergy man and a former land lady called Fanny price are said to haunt the pub Fanny is said to make herself known by flinging a glass across the bar It is thought she died of consumption at the age of 35! Fanny is buried in the local St Michael’s churchyard.

A multitude or bizarre and sometimes disturbing phenomenon is often reported by guest of the pub, A common complaint of guest is that of a feeling of being strangled and when people look closer at their necks what appear to be rope marks can be seen! Other complaints are of a feeling of dizziness, nausea, overwhelming fear and a sense some invisible being that pushes past people on the stairs!

Other reports are that of disembodied voices, objects floating around the bar area, unexplained knocking and other sounds such as footsteps and doors opening and slamming by themselves. It is no wonder why some many paranormal investigators and researches visit this pub as it is not only wales oldest pub but most likely its most haunted too.

The Orang Pendek Is Said To Be Bigfoot’s Little Cousin…

The Orang Pendek: Bigfoot’s Little Cousin

The orang Pendek is said to be Bigfoot’s little cousin… Located in the jungles of Sumatra, Indonesia. Well known by the locals and spotted on a regular basis the orang Pendek is said to be about 3-foot-tall and have reddish/brown coloured fur.

The creature is said to stand on two feet making it bipedal and features humanoid characteristics… Although this creature is small it is supposed to have extreme strength and can easily uproot small trees and is reported as being very fast. Although this creature is likened to a primate it spends most of its time on the ground and not in the trees! It is believed to be primarily vegetarian, as it tends to eat the crops of the local people. Locals tend to stay out of its way due to its brute strength.
Not just locals have seen this creature as many westerners have also claimed to have seen this allusive creature. Many doctors and scientist have shown an interest in the creature and some have claimed to of had an encounter with the creature. Even spending large parts of their lives searching for the beast. There has been physical evidence too, in the form of footprints and hair samples that have been study, and all have come back as belonging to an undocumented primate…

Of recent there has been quite possibly the best piece of visual evidence yet! Which was a video and in the video, you can see a group of people on bikers riding through the forested area and in front of them is what appears to be a small bipedal primate with reddish/ brown fur! Many have claimed this to be the orang Pendek! I believe that if there is going to be an undiscovered primate species then chances are it will be discovered in a place that hasn’t been properly explored or a place that is so vast that a species like this could live without being detected. So, it is quite possible for the Orang Pendek to exist.
What are your thoughts?

The Lost Colony of Roanoke

Mass Disappearance: What happened at Roanoke!

Quite possibly one of the strangest and most mysterious mass disappearances is the case of the lost colony of Roanoke! It was John White an Englishman that brought more than 100 men, women and children to the island of Roanoke in North Carolina in 1587.
This was one of the first attempts by the English to achieve a presence in the new world. It was Sir Walter Raleigh that dispatched White, the original plan was for White and the colonist to be dropped off in the Chesapeake Bay area and establish a colony there. But, on route they stopped by Roanoke on the 15 men that were left there to maintain English presence. However, when white got there the 15 men were nowhere to be seen. it was then decided that the Colonist should stay at Roanoke!
After a while the supplies began to at Roanoke began to run out. So, pressure was put onto White to go back to England and ask to assistance. Reluctantly White set sail back to England. White left behind 115 colonists including his wife, his daughter and his granddaughter. After a while White set back to Roanoke with the much-needed supplies and a new crew, White made it back to Roanoke on august 18th 1590. But, when White and the new crew got there not a single person could be found! Plus, it was apparent that every structure had been taking down, carefully and not in a rush. Plus, there was no sign that anything had been destroyed forcefully.
There was no sign that the colonist had been forced out or had been under attack. But, yet all 115 colonists were nowhere to be seen! The only thing White found that was out of the ordinary was the word Croatoan that had been etched into one of the trees!

The name Croatoan was the name of one of the local Indian tribes, however this tribe was friendly towards the colonists White never managed to find out if the colonists stayed with the Croatoans and with bad weather white was forced to go back to England. White never came back to Roanoke and subsequently never found out what happened to the colonists and what happened to his own family!
Even to this date no one knows what happened to the colonists. Some theories have been put forward. The strongest theory is that they assimilated with the local Croatoan tribe or perhaps were massacred by a local tribe. However, no evidence has ever been found to support this theory. The thing is with Roanoke mystery is, no one really knows what happened to the colonists! Roanoke has gone down as one of the greatest unsolved mass disappearances of all time.

H.H. Holmes The Evil Doctor!

H.H. Holmes: Americas First Serial Killer!

H.H. Holmes born Herman Webster Mudgett was a sadistic serial killer in the 19th century! Regarded as one of the world’s first, if not the first serial killer. Holmes was born in 1861 in New Hampshire and was born in to a very wealthy family. Although Holmes was regarded as being very intelligent it was apparent even as a child that something wasn’t right. He was truly fascinated with medicine and had an unhealthy obsession with the dissection of animals and it is reported he would conduct cruel and unjust experiments on animals and was even responsible for a death of a friend.

When Holmes got older he went to study medicine at the university of Michigan, at this time in his life he began to steal corpses, abandoning the bodies and then claiming that they were his relatives, so he could claim the insurance money.

In 1886 Holmes moved to Chicago and started using the name Dr Henry H Holmes. He began to work in a pharmacy and after a short time took it over many people believe that he killed the owner, however this can’t be known for certain. Shortly after taking over the pharmacy he bought a plot of land across from the pharmacy and began to build a 3-storey building which he had the sole intention to use as a place he could commit his terrible crimes!

The building was built with sound proof rooms a bank vault, so he could leave his victims in to slowly suffocate and die. A sealed off room which had a trap door in the roof, so once the victim was inside the room they couldn’t get out and would slowly die.

By 1893 Holmes had opened the building as a Hotel and most people who checked in never checked out! He would lure mostly women back to the hotel and once they were in their rooms he would gas them with secret pipes that were fitted in their rooms. He would then dissect the women and sell the skeletons to medical schools and then he would burn the remains in two large furnaces that he had in the basement of the building!

His crimes would have carried on had it not been for his greed of money, Holmes was reported to the police for not paying money he owed. Whilst on the run from the police he killed a con man friend Benjamin Pitezel and 3 of his children, before finally been arrested in Boston…  When the police searched the hotel, they discovered the full horrors of what Holmes had been up to.  In 1896 Holmes was finally hanged for his crimes. There is no way to say for definite how many people he killed estimate vary from 27 to over 200, it is also worth noting that it is theorized by some that Holmes was also responsible for the Ripper murders, Perhaps Americas first serial killer was also Jack the Ripper. The hotel, which was also known as the murder castle was eventually pulled down.
