The Mystery of the Kaz 2

The Kaz 2

The Kaz 2 what is sometimes known as Australia’s Ghost ship. On April the 15th 2007 three friends set sail on their Catamaran. Thy were on the first part of there trip from northern to southern Australia the 3 men that were on the boat were 56-year-old Derek Batten, Peter Tunstead (69) and his brother James who was (63) They were all experienced sailors and had been sailing together since they were teenagers.

But just three days into their journey a helicopter spotted a boat adrift off the coast of the great barrier reef after the helicopter had reported this the coast guard a mission was set to catch up with the vessel and board it and on the 20th of April that is what happened. The boat was the Kaz 2 and what the boarding party noticed was very strange! All three men were missing but everything else seemed normal. The only sign of damage was one of the sails where ripped but that is it, nothing else. There were no signs that the boat had been hit by a rogue wave.

The search was called off after several days and the police said that there did not believe it was foul play and that the men were probably just swept overboard! However, the families of the men were not convinced this this as there were things that just did not add up… As there was a fishing line that had been put out by one of the three men and the families argued that they would not have done this if the weather was bad! Ruling out being swept overboard. Plus, all of the life jackets were still on the vessel indicating that there were never needed or used. The Families believed that the three men must have been abducted and were still alive somewhere!
The Families believed that the three men must have been abducted and were still alive somewhere! It is hard to believe that these three experienced sailors would do anything that would be unsafe whilst on-board the yacht. So, the thought that these men were just swept overboard is a bit unlikely. So, what do you think? Could the men have been abducted? Or possibly have been swept overboard? Or could it be something more sinister! Some people have suggested the possibility of a USO or a UFO or perhaps something more sinister altogether!
What are your thoughts?

The Island That Vanished – Hy-Brasil: The Phantom Island

Hy-Brasil: The Phantom Island!

Hy-Brasil was first noted on maps as far back as 1325. However, as the centuries have past the island which was said to be located off the coast of west Ireland has seeming vanished!

What makes this island interesting is that over the centuries many people have claimed to have seen it! Hence why it has been on so many maps for so long. In 1674 John Nesbit an Irish explorer claimed he sailed through thick fog of the coast of west Ireland and reached island of Hy-Brasil. Once the ship was anchored three crew men rowed to the island and returned three days later with large amount of gold and silver, claiming that an old man had given it to them. Nesbit also stated that the island was inhabited by very large black rabbits and the old man lived in a castle.

The very last documented sighting of Hy-Brasil was that of Author T.J Westropp in 1872. Westropp claimed that he seen the island on many previous voyages, so this time he decided he would take people with him to back-up his claims, they all said that the island appeared and then disappeared right in front of their eyes. After this the island has fallen into myth and legend, but all these people saw something. It did not benefit anyone to make it up in fact it would be more damaging than beneficial!

There is a lot more to this story and we will be covering it in a future podcast, as we haven’t even mentioned the US soldier that had an UFO encounter and received the exact coordinates to Hy-Brasil, weird eh? What do you think? Is there a mystery phantom island just of the coast of Ireland! Or could there have been once?

The Skirrid Inn

The Skirrid Inn: The Most Haunted Pub in Wales

The Skirrid Inn is the oldest pub in wales and is a hot spot for paranormal activity!… Dating back to the 17th century and has a long and dark history. It is said that the first floor of the inn was used as a court of law. It is also said that some of the people that stood trail were sentenced to death within its walls.

Apparently around 180 people were executed in the pub the people that were sentenced to death were hung by the neck from a rope that was said to have been attached to an oak beam at the top of the staircase. There are even indentations to this day from where the rope left its mark. It’s the pubs history that makes people believe the pub is haunted along with the many sighting or paranormal encounters. It is said that Judge Jeffries who sentenced so many people to death haunts the upstairs of the pub and he is apparently searching for his next victim!

Another common spectre is to haunt the pub is a sheep rustler called John Crowther and the many criminals that lost their lives there are said to still haunt the location. It’s worth noting that it is said that the pub has some friendly ghost too… A clergy man and a former land lady called Fanny price are said to haunt the pub Fanny is said to make herself known by flinging a glass across the bar It is thought she died of consumption at the age of 35! Fanny is buried in the local St Michael’s churchyard.

A multitude or bizarre and sometimes disturbing phenomenon is often reported by guest of the pub, A common complaint of guest is that of a feeling of being strangled and when people look closer at their necks what appear to be rope marks can be seen! Other complaints are of a feeling of dizziness, nausea, overwhelming fear and a sense some invisible being that pushes past people on the stairs!

Other reports are that of disembodied voices, objects floating around the bar area, unexplained knocking and other sounds such as footsteps and doors opening and slamming by themselves. It is no wonder why some many paranormal investigators and researches visit this pub as it is not only wales oldest pub but most likely its most haunted too.

The Orang Pendek Is Said To Be Bigfoot’s Little Cousin…

The Orang Pendek: Bigfoot’s Little Cousin

The orang Pendek is said to be Bigfoot’s little cousin… Located in the jungles of Sumatra, Indonesia. Well known by the locals and spotted on a regular basis the orang Pendek is said to be about 3-foot-tall and have reddish/brown coloured fur.

The creature is said to stand on two feet making it bipedal and features humanoid characteristics… Although this creature is small it is supposed to have extreme strength and can easily uproot small trees and is reported as being very fast. Although this creature is likened to a primate it spends most of its time on the ground and not in the trees! It is believed to be primarily vegetarian, as it tends to eat the crops of the local people. Locals tend to stay out of its way due to its brute strength.
Not just locals have seen this creature as many westerners have also claimed to have seen this allusive creature. Many doctors and scientist have shown an interest in the creature and some have claimed to of had an encounter with the creature. Even spending large parts of their lives searching for the beast. There has been physical evidence too, in the form of footprints and hair samples that have been study, and all have come back as belonging to an undocumented primate…

Of recent there has been quite possibly the best piece of visual evidence yet! Which was a video and in the video, you can see a group of people on bikers riding through the forested area and in front of them is what appears to be a small bipedal primate with reddish/ brown fur! Many have claimed this to be the orang Pendek! I believe that if there is going to be an undiscovered primate species then chances are it will be discovered in a place that hasn’t been properly explored or a place that is so vast that a species like this could live without being detected. So, it is quite possible for the Orang Pendek to exist.
What are your thoughts?

The Lost Colony of Roanoke

Mass Disappearance: What happened at Roanoke!

Quite possibly one of the strangest and most mysterious mass disappearances is the case of the lost colony of Roanoke! It was John White an Englishman that brought more than 100 men, women and children to the island of Roanoke in North Carolina in 1587.
This was one of the first attempts by the English to achieve a presence in the new world. It was Sir Walter Raleigh that dispatched White, the original plan was for White and the colonist to be dropped off in the Chesapeake Bay area and establish a colony there. But, on route they stopped by Roanoke on the 15 men that were left there to maintain English presence. However, when white got there the 15 men were nowhere to be seen. it was then decided that the Colonist should stay at Roanoke!
After a while the supplies began to at Roanoke began to run out. So, pressure was put onto White to go back to England and ask to assistance. Reluctantly White set sail back to England. White left behind 115 colonists including his wife, his daughter and his granddaughter. After a while White set back to Roanoke with the much-needed supplies and a new crew, White made it back to Roanoke on august 18th 1590. But, when White and the new crew got there not a single person could be found! Plus, it was apparent that every structure had been taking down, carefully and not in a rush. Plus, there was no sign that anything had been destroyed forcefully.
There was no sign that the colonist had been forced out or had been under attack. But, yet all 115 colonists were nowhere to be seen! The only thing White found that was out of the ordinary was the word Croatoan that had been etched into one of the trees!

The name Croatoan was the name of one of the local Indian tribes, however this tribe was friendly towards the colonists White never managed to find out if the colonists stayed with the Croatoans and with bad weather white was forced to go back to England. White never came back to Roanoke and subsequently never found out what happened to the colonists and what happened to his own family!
Even to this date no one knows what happened to the colonists. Some theories have been put forward. The strongest theory is that they assimilated with the local Croatoan tribe or perhaps were massacred by a local tribe. However, no evidence has ever been found to support this theory. The thing is with Roanoke mystery is, no one really knows what happened to the colonists! Roanoke has gone down as one of the greatest unsolved mass disappearances of all time.

H.H. Holmes The Evil Doctor!

H.H. Holmes: Americas First Serial Killer!

H.H. Holmes born Herman Webster Mudgett was a sadistic serial killer in the 19th century! Regarded as one of the world’s first, if not the first serial killer. Holmes was born in 1861 in New Hampshire and was born in to a very wealthy family. Although Holmes was regarded as being very intelligent it was apparent even as a child that something wasn’t right. He was truly fascinated with medicine and had an unhealthy obsession with the dissection of animals and it is reported he would conduct cruel and unjust experiments on animals and was even responsible for a death of a friend.

When Holmes got older he went to study medicine at the university of Michigan, at this time in his life he began to steal corpses, abandoning the bodies and then claiming that they were his relatives, so he could claim the insurance money.

In 1886 Holmes moved to Chicago and started using the name Dr Henry H Holmes. He began to work in a pharmacy and after a short time took it over many people believe that he killed the owner, however this can’t be known for certain. Shortly after taking over the pharmacy he bought a plot of land across from the pharmacy and began to build a 3-storey building which he had the sole intention to use as a place he could commit his terrible crimes!

The building was built with sound proof rooms a bank vault, so he could leave his victims in to slowly suffocate and die. A sealed off room which had a trap door in the roof, so once the victim was inside the room they couldn’t get out and would slowly die.

By 1893 Holmes had opened the building as a Hotel and most people who checked in never checked out! He would lure mostly women back to the hotel and once they were in their rooms he would gas them with secret pipes that were fitted in their rooms. He would then dissect the women and sell the skeletons to medical schools and then he would burn the remains in two large furnaces that he had in the basement of the building!

His crimes would have carried on had it not been for his greed of money, Holmes was reported to the police for not paying money he owed. Whilst on the run from the police he killed a con man friend Benjamin Pitezel and 3 of his children, before finally been arrested in Boston…  When the police searched the hotel, they discovered the full horrors of what Holmes had been up to.  In 1896 Holmes was finally hanged for his crimes. There is no way to say for definite how many people he killed estimate vary from 27 to over 200, it is also worth noting that it is theorized by some that Holmes was also responsible for the Ripper murders, Perhaps Americas first serial killer was also Jack the Ripper. The hotel, which was also known as the murder castle was eventually pulled down.

The Marlborough Ghost Ship

The Marlborough: A Mystery Still Unsolved

The Marlborough was a Hugh was an iron-built two-decked merchant sailing ship which disappeared in 1890. The ship spent its time at sea travelling between Britain and New Zealand. The ship made many successful voyages in its time and mainly carried wool and frozen meat! A few months after the ship left port in New Zealand in January 1890 carrying its usual cargo and 33 crew members, the Marlborough failed to arrive at its destination in Britain and was reported missing!
At the time many people thought that the Marlborough had been sunk has she passed through cape horn which is a hot spot for ship sinking icebergs! 23 years after the ship was last seen a Singapore newspaper claim that the Marlborough had been discovered near cape horn!

It’s here were the creepy mystery starts as the Marlborough was found shipped wrecked on an extremely craggy island. When a crew of another ship boarded they were horrified at what they found! There was said to be around 20 skeletons on board, what was believed to be the capital was found under the wheel, one was found alone on the ship bridge, some were found by the ladder leading below the deck, 3 were found in the ships hatch way and the rest were found in the ships mess room.
The skeletons are what makes this mystery creepy and strange as there were no signs of foul play and why the skeleton was spread all over the ship makes it weirder. Investigators believed that they must of all died at around the same time as if this wasn’t the case the people that were alive at the time wouldn’t have just left the bodies there to decompose and they would have moved them. Also, because they were scattered around the ship it isn’t believed that they were gathered by an attacker and killed. It is also a mystery Why the captain that was believed to be the skeleton found under the wheel was there in the first place.
Another thing, if the ship had just run a ground surely the crew would have just left the ship and gone onto land to try and survive?! So, why they were all dead! And the ship was missing for so long is a truly creepy mystery! The Marlborough’s sister ship the Dunedin also went missing in the same year and to this day has never been found! Strange eh?

Waverly Hills

Waverly Hills: Americas Most Haunted Hospital

Waverly hills sanatorium located in Louisville, Kentucky, USA, and is regarded as one of the most haunted location in the USA! Featured on almost every ghost hunting program in the US, Waverly has been subject to extensive investigation and on many occasions unearthing what most would say is proof of the existence of the paranormal!

Waverly first opened its door in 1910 and housed thousands of patients suffering from tuberculosis. Originally built to house 40-50 patients, Waverly ended up housing up to 400 patients at a time. Waverly had its doors open for over 50 years but due to a new revolutionary antibiotic which drastically eliminated tuberculosis and the hospital closed in 1962! Waverly re-opened a year later, but closed in 1980 as officials found out evidence of horrendous patient neglect! No one knows exactly how many people died at Waverly, but it is said that at least 6000! People died.

The patients of Waverly would often suffer terribly and must go through horrible treatments; Such as, electroshock therapy, experimental surgery and other cruel and unethical procedures. One of the more well-known and truly tragic cases is that of Mary Lee, a nurse that treat people with tuberculosis and ended up contracting the disease herself. Mary got pregnant to one of the doctors and was unwed the shame of all this was too much for her and she took her own life, by hanging herself in room 502. Mary laid undiscovered for a long time.

With Waverly’s cruel and sinister past there is no wonder why it is supposed to be one of Americas most haunted locations! With dozens of photos, videos and audio recording that apparently capture the image of sound of something paranormal, not to mention the countless eyewitness accounts. There is no doubt that Waverly has a very sad past, but does that sadness still reside there in the form of restless spirits? What are your thoughts?
